Privacy Policy

rowerM8 is made by rowerM8 Brands ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the rowerM8 app and the rowerm8.com website collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email us at hello@rowerm8.com.

Information we collect

Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address, or the information Apple shares with us if you use Sign in with Apple (which may be a private relay email address). You can also use rowerM8 as a guest without an account.

Rowing data. When you row with rowerM8, the app records data from your motion sensor and, if you connect one, your rowing machine monitor (such as a Concept2 PM5). This includes stroke rate, stroke count, distance, pace, time, and the raw sensor readings from your pieces.

Profile and community information. If you choose to create an online profile, we collect the username you pick and any information you add, such as gender and age group for leaderboards. Profiles are opt-in.

Bluetooth. rowerM8 uses Bluetooth to connect to your sensor and rowing machine. On some Android devices, the system asks for location permission in order to use Bluetooth. rowerM8 does not collect or store your location.

Website waitlist. If you join the waitlist on rowerm8.com, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. We use it only to send you updates about rowerM8, including the app launch and our pre-order campaign. You can ask us to remove you at any time.

How we use your information

To run the app: count strokes, calculate distance and pace, and save your workouts.
To keep your history, stats, and gear available when you sign in.
To show leaderboards and community features, if you opt in.
To improve rowerM8, including the accuracy of our stroke detection and distance estimates.
To contact you about your account, send waitlist updates you signed up for, or respond to your questions.

How we store and share your information

Your data is stored with our cloud backend provider, which hosts the rowerM8 database and sign-in service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We may share information only if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

Your choices

You can use rowerM8 as a guest without creating an account.
Online profiles and leaderboards are optional.
You can ask us to delete your account, your data, or your waitlist signup at any time by emailing hello@rowerm8.com. We will delete it promptly.

Children

rowerM8 is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above.
